We built this thang.

We’re Matt and Kelly, the owners.

We’re partners in life and business and former veterinary professionals. Between the two of us, we have a combined 35+ years of experience in veterinary medicine…most of that in emergency and critical care. While vet med will always have a special place in our hearts, we were ready to strike out into the wilds of entrepreneurship and do something new. It’s been quite a journey with many ups and downs. But honestly, we have never felt more fulfilled in our lives than we do now.

Our name…

Have you ever worked shift work? How about overnights? If you have, you know what happens when you get down in the trenches with the same people night after night. Nicknames crop up…and they stick. Matt earned the nickname Lucky Shot after his coworkers noticed he threw stuff at trash cans a lot…and rarely made it in the bin. But it sure makes a good name for a coffee company, no?

We started with this…

We formed Lucky Shot Coffee Company in December, 2021. We strove to combine our love of old things with our passion for specialty coffee…and once we found our 1976 Scamp, it was off to the races. We built our espresso cart first while we worked on the trailer…it took us 9 months to finish her. We used our own hands and put our energy into our trailer, and are immensely proud of what we’ve made.

We posted all about our renovations on our social media!
